In most cases, insurance covers a visit with our IBCLC Provider, as they are licensed healthcare practitioners. Every insurance carrier has specific provisions for coverage within each policy. We strongly recommend that you contact your insurance company to see what they will cover. Visits are typically billed as a consult. Since our care involves diagnosis and treatment of mother and baby, a co-pay will be collected at the time of your visit.
*PLEASE NOTE: If you have an HMO with a listed PCP, you must obtain the required insurance referrals for your visit to be covered.
When you schedule your visit to the Breastfeeding Center, please contact you OB/midwife and your pediatrician to obtain the required referrals if appropriate.
(The HMO insurances most frequently requiring referrals are AETNA and UNITEDHEALTHCARE.)
For Your Baby
Newborn babies aren’t automatically covered on all insurance plans.
The newborn coverage period varies depending on your individual plan. We recommend you check with your insurance company to see how your individual coverage plan works, and to see if you need to formally add your newborn to your plan to have effective coverage.
We accept the following insurances:
BCBS-PA Capital Blue Cross
Devon Health Services
If your insurance is not listed please email or call our office for assistance or cash pay options.
